I shoot what stops me — a reflection in a window, intersecting tram tracks on cobblestones, a red that insists on being noticed. My work is built around geometry, scale, and color as the subject rather than a mood. Four decades of photography, starting on film in the early 1980s and eventually moving to digital with Leica and Sony, has encouraged me to slow down and look hard for the adjective, not the noun.

I’m based in Stuttgart and shoot primarily on a Leica Q3 and M9, a Sony A7R III, and a Ricoh GR IV in my pocket for the moments that call for something smaller. Bags, filters, straps — happy to go down that rabbit hole with anyone who’s interested. And then there's my beautiful assistant, Sophia, a 1970 Vespa 50L, who has her own ideas about showing up in photographs.

Ich fotografiere, was mich innehalten lässt – eine Spiegelung in einem Fenster, sich kreuzende Straßenbahnschienen auf Kopfsteinpflaster, ein Rot, das einfach nicht übersehen werden will. Meine Arbeit baut auf Geometrie, Maßstab und Farbe als eigentliches Motiv auf, nicht als Stimmung. Vier Jahrzehnte Fotografie – angefangen mit Film Anfang der Achtziger und später der Wechsel zu Leica und Sony – haben mich gelehrt, a bissle langsamer zu werden und intensiv nach dem Adjektiv zu suchen, nicht nach dem Substantiv.

Ich bin in Stuttgart daheim und fotografiere hauptsächlich mit der Leica Q3 und M9, der Sony A7R III und einer Ricoh GR IV, die ich immer in der Tasche habe, wenn’s a bissle kompakter sein soll. Taschen, Filter, Trageriemen – da geh ich mit jedem gerne mal ins Kaninchenloch, der Lust dazu hat. Und dann ist da noch meine wunderschöne Assistentin Sophia, eine Vespa 50L von 1970, die ihr ganz eigenes Köpfle hat und ihre eigenen Ideen, wann und wie sie in meinen Bildern auftaucht.
